The RKC Instructor's Code

Upon the conclusion of my 2008 RKC instructor certification Master RKC Jeff O'Connor gave a speech summarizing what the RKC code of conduct meant to him. Basically it came down to "Can you teach what you've been taught?". In other words, as an RKC your kettlebell students/clients should be able to attain the same standard as an RKC instructor. If this is true, then you've done your job as an RKC. Since that day, Jeff O'Connor's words have been in the front of my mind at each kettlebell session. Not only should I be holding my students to increasingly higher standards but myself as well.

Recently I returned from an advanced RKC instructor certification the CK-FMS (Certified Kettlebell Functional Movement Screen Specialist) instructor course. During the certification I witnessed many RKC instructors performing cleans, getups, presses, swings, squats and snatches. Upon returning to my class of Kettlebell students I was pleased to see that their technique was excellent, something I'd be proud to put side by side with any RKC.

If you are training with Kettlebells in Omaha, Nebraska or the surrounding area and would like to learn safe technique, that makes you healthier and helps you to  move better, give me a call.  I am still accept participants for a Free Function Movement Screen and will be happy to share the RKC techniques and principles that I have learned.
