Finding a Kettlebell Trainer in Omaha

I can't imagine taking a 30-minute lesson in anything and pretending to be qualified to teach it. Would you even consider paying for golf-swing lessons from a personal trainer that has only had 30-minutes experience on a driving range? Of course not. Yet, it has recently come to my attention that a personal trainer here in Omaha is teaching kettlebell swings to his clients. The problem is that this "personal trainer" has only taken one 30-minute kettlebell class, mine. To make matters worse I remember that this trainer was one of those guys that barely listened to instruction and had improper swing technique. By comparison my 10 year old kettlebell student is far more qualified to teach kettlebell than this personal trainer.

This serves as a reminder that there are unqualified individuals in every profession. Out of insecurity these "professionals" will tell a client anything just to make a buck. This forces the client to constantly remain on guard and filter everything the trainer says and does.

Here are some things you should look for when seeking a qualified kettlebell instructor:
  • A qualified Kettlebell Instructor should be in shape and able to demonstrate the kind of technical mastery that can only be the result of perfect practice.
  • A qualified Kettlebell Instructor should be able to explain the benefits of each technique, when, why and how to perform it.
  • A qualified Kettlebell Instructor should make lifting a relatively heavy kettlebell look easy.
  • A qualified Kettlebell instructor should have an arsenal of fool-proof corrective drills to ensure that you are performing the Kettlebell lifts safely and correctly.
  • A qualified Kettlebell instructor should have undergone an intensive instructor certification with lots of hands on practice under the scrutiny of an National or International calibre instructor.
  • A qualified Kettlebell Instructor should be able to produce verifiable credentials upon request without batting an eye.

If you are considering kettlebell training I highly recommend visiting http://www.dragondoor.com/ and looking up a certified instructor near you.
