I just wanted to praise the hard work and progress of a few KB students.
- My youngest student is ten years old and rocking out set of 20 swings using a 14lb Dragon Door kettlebell.
- One 15 year old student Jonathan has essentially mastered all the basic RKC core lifts and can flip the 35lb kettlebell behind his back with ease.
- Several female students have impressed me by passing the RKC snatch test exceeding the RKC minimum for their body weight.
- Tiffany has probably the best and most intense and perfect Hard Style swing technique I've seen yet. She can handle the 26lb kettlebell and 35lb kettlebell like child's play.
- Two 60 plus year old students have nearly mastered the swing and both have moved up to the next kettlebell weight despite only attending 1 or 2 classes a week.
- I taught a private Kettlebell class to a college student named Aleks. Right out of the chute he performed 8 or more near perfect body weight only pistols. He has been working out with a 35 and 50lb kettlebell for some time and quickly picked up everything I could show him. One of his main goals was to incorporate the RKC Hardstyle snatch into his workouts, within the span of two minutes his snatch went from shaky to safe and solid. He absorbed a lot of RKC tips and technique in a relatively short period. A hard worker, intelligent and intense I am confident he will represent the Kettlebell community well.
I'm enjoying the experience of teaching Kettlebell immensely. There's a kind of truth to it that humbles the teacher and student alike. So far there are no uniforms, stripes, belts and fragile egos too often associated with the martial arts community. You can either perform a lift or you can't. No matter how strong, each individual can always become stronger and each technique can become more refined and solid. Progress is easy to see, students increase their reps and advance to a heavier weight or they don't.
